Strollers Recalled Over Amputations

Newell Rubbermaid’s (NYSE: NWL) Graco's Children Products Inc. has recalled 1.5 million baby strollers after receiving numerous reports of children getting their fingertips caught in the strollers' hinges.

The injuries ranged from minor cuts to amputations. To date, there have been five reported amputations caused by the strollers.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said that the recall covers any Graco Passage, Alano and Spree strollers and travel systems that have a plastic, jointed hinge mechanism with indented canopy positioning notches.

According to the agency, the products were sold at retailers such as Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT), Target Corp. (NYSE: TGT) and Toys “R” Us Inc. from October 2004 and December 2009.
