Hot Topic (HOTT) Soars 13%

Shares of Hot Topic, Inc. (NASDAQ: HOTT) were up more than 13% in early afternoon trading.

Earlier in the day, the teen retailer announced that all of its core businesses were improving.

Hot Topic executives attending the Telsey Advisory Group conference also said that sales at the company's plus-size retail chain Torrid were up 8%, quarter to date.

Hot Topic's results have been hurt because of comparisons to sales of the Twilight saga merchandise.

However, today's announcement by executives, a recommendation from CNBC’s Jim Cramer and improving retailing trends have pushed the stock price up.
